Hermes 3000 Electric Typewriter Cursive and Ready to Type
This a very rare electric version of the 3000 known as the 10, which was an instant success and widely popular in the u. S and international markets in the 1960s and 70s. Feature for feature, this is one of the most sophisticated mechanical typewriters ever made. Its major innovations included the world’s first lightning margins (visible in front of the sheet of paper) and a control board grouping all the service keys. This is a typewriter that many revere as the most luscious ever created, a dream machine that came in such spiffy colors as seafoam green or lustrous ivory. While the 3000 was intended for the individual, hermes created the 10 as an electric office version. This is a 3000 feature for feature, plus it’s electric. I have serviced these machines for 40+ years and this is just the 2nd hermes 10 with cursive typebars i have seen. This is certainly a custom order machine as cursive was never offered in a standard 10. It is one in a million. This machine is ready to type, it has been cleaned, serviced and adjusted to factory specs. The feed rollers have been cleaned or replaced as necessary and any worn or damaged parts were repaired or replaced. The typewriter body has 100% original color from the factory and the machine has been thoroughly tested. A brand new black/red cotton ribbon installed is freshly installed. All this work guarantees you years of trouble-free operation. Because this is and office machine and fitted with a wide carriage, it cannot be fitted with the usual hermes hard case. This is obviously a lightly used machine that hermes intended for permanent use in an office. It is only 3 inches wider than a regular 3000, and the weight is very close to 11 carriage. This machine has been lovingly used and cared for as you can see in the pictures. I’d rate it cosmetically a 9 on a 10 scale – not a collector’s item but a workhorse that is ready to serve another 50 years of duty. Included with this 10 is a spare ribbon and the owner’s manual.
